So you've got an Arduino but don't yet know what you can do with it? Looking for a way into coding and finding out the full potential of your Arduino? Explore this badge mission to find out some of the awesome tools and examples already built into your device!

  1. Task 1 Blink LED

    Activity

So, you've got your Arduino set up, and ready to go! Using one of the examples built into the Arduino - Blink LED, set this up and running on your Arduino (see the video for how this should look)

For your evidence, either upload a screenshot/video of your Arduino controlling the LED or upload your Arduino Sketch.

    Challenge

    • Can you make the LED blink faster/slower?
    • How did you do this - what piece of code did you need to edit?

  2. Task 2 Fade

    Activity

Your next task is to use another of the in built examples - Fade. Instead of making the LED light blink on and off, we're going to make it fade all the way off and then back on again to full brightness.

For your evidence, either upload a screenshot/video of your Arduino controlling the LED or upload your Arduino Sketch.

    Challenge

    • Can you create the fading led effect on 2 LED's?
    • Can you make the first LED fade all the way off before fading on may start on the other LED? (Check out the video for how this should look)

  3. Task 3 Traffic Lights

    Activity

For this activity, you're going to build a traffic light circuit, but instead of using the ready made Arduino Sketch, you will need to input the code for yourself - this will help you to practice writing lines of codes, and become more familiar with the programming environment.

For your evidence, either upload a screenshot/video of your Arduino controlling the LEDs or upload your Arduino Sketch.

    Challenge

    • Can you make the amber (yellow/orange) LED blink - like on real traffic lights?
    • Have a look at the video, could you recreate this 4-way traffic light 'junction' using a breadboard?
