  1. Task 1 Introduction to the code editor

Remember the first time you played Minecraft? You had to look up all those recipes, just to make a wooden pickaxe? Just like any good player needs to know their recipes, a good coder needs to know their editor.

In this video you'll find out how to get started with the Code Kingdoms editor, what it can do and how to join your own server. Awesome!

    Learn to code with Minecraft

    Task

Watch the video to find out how to use the Code Kingdoms editor - setting up your account and having a play around the editor itself! The main message behind this video is about getting you set up and ready to MOD! So..... What the heck is modding??

    Evidence

Explain your understanding of what modding actually is. This can be in the context of Minecraft or using any knowledge that you might have locked away. You can also share any example of modding you might have done already!

  2. Task 2 Arrowmageddon

One of the most important lessons to learn as a game designer is 'If something is fun, why aren't you just doing more of that?' For example, if shooting some arrows at people can be fun, surely shooting more arrows at people should be even more fun? Arrowmageddon is a mod where even the smallest move will cause an endless flow of arrows to be fired by the player. It's also only two lines of code long. It's even shorter than this sentence!

    2. Head to the CK Editor and get modding! Remember you can head back to the video any time in case you get stuck!

    Evidence

So you've made your mod - quick right? Let's take a look - either upload a screenshot of your code, or even better a video(screencast) of your mod in action!

  3. Task 3 Thunderblocks

Many powerful beings have controlled lightning. Zeus, Thor, the people who work at Code Kingdoms... In a minute, we'll get you added to that list! In Thunderblocks, breaking any block will strike wherever that block used to be with lightning. And yes, I mean any block. Break some dirt? Boom. Mine some diamond deep deep underground? Boom. No escape from lightning. Pick a pretty looking flower? Boom. Lightning has no time for you picking flowers.

  4. Task 4 Become an Enderdragon

Dragons are cool. Enderdragons doubly so. The way they just fly straight through blocks, like it's nothing, there's a certain beauty to it. Well in this mod, we'll teach you exactly how to do that yourself. You'll make your players fly, and be able to cut huge tunnels out of the mountains in seconds. You thought you could break things quickly in creative mode? This is like super creative mode. A super creative mode for super creative coders, I like the sound of that.
